Shrine Circus slated Wednesday
Chubbuck - Standing on a black balloon twisted into the shape of a poodle, summer 11 years Abney became acquainted with members of the Club of Idaho Southern Sanctuary, who were dressed as clowns, on Friday to promote the circus to come they bring to the city.
Jim Birdwell, aka "the Clown Nickel," helped entertain the children who stopped at McDonald's in Chubbuck to grab some free passes.
The El Korah Shrine Circus is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, at Bannock County Fair with performances from 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
"I want to see them do all the stuff (the circus)," Abney said. "It's really cool!"
Each child 12 and under, who receives a free ticket must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets for adults are $ 12 and tickets cost $ 6 for children. They can be purchased at the door or in advance at Zions Bank, Quik Cash, Ridley and online elkorah.org.
Until Wednesday, the first 2000 kids who order a meal enjoy one of three McDonald's locations will also receive a free pass.
With proper identification, the families of military assets will also be free entry.
All proceeds will be donated to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Specifically, the money will be a free support group screening clinics and help with medical expenses of traveling patients.
"It's a circus own," said Bill Newbry, president of the Circus South Idaho Sanctuary. "It's wonderful. I live for this ... help children. If I talk long about it, I tend to get choked up."
Shriners group, half were in costume, also called attention to themselves Friday afternoon in the parking lot of their fire engine red 1938 Ford in the parking lot outside the restaurant on Yellowstone Avenue. The Blackfoot Fire Department has handed over the keys to the back of antique fire trucks in the early 1970s.
